Demi Lovato has unveiled her new wax figure at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas. The singer called it a “healing moment” when she saw her wax figure for the first time, she says on the museum’s website.
“Oh wow, that’s exactly what I look like,” Lovato says of “herself.” “When I saw my wax figure for the first time it was a healing moment for me. I have always struggled with morphodysphoria, seeing myself in 3D was a powerful experience. It is something I will cherish forever.” Morphodysphoria, also known as Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), is a psychological condition in which someone has an (imagined) abnormal image of his or her own body.
The American singer has had a wax figure in Madame Tussauds Hollywood since 2015. “I knew what to expect, but it’s still a great honor and a cool experience,” she says of the new version in the famous gambling city. This Sunday, October 6, Lovato’s new statue can be viewed by the public for the first time in Las Vegas.
