Yamaha Motor Europe published a teaser video on its social channels yesterday in which, among the smoke and lights, you can glimpse a fairing, a fairing and half handlebars.
After the disappearance from the price lists at the end of 2023 of the famous R1 motivated by homologation issues, the Japanese flagship was presented in recent weeks in two different versions: R1 Race and R1 GYTR, both however dedicated to track use only.
The Yamaha range therefore lacks a medium-displacement sports car that can be more lively and high-performing than the R7, a sporty one indeed but aimed at more road use and an entry level audience. An R9, with the brilliant 889 cc CP3 engine rated at 119 HP, could be an excellent middle ground between the R7 and the R1, and in fact this has been talked about for years.
Returning to the teaser, the countdown stops at number 9, repeating it three times, and “the entry into a new era” is announced.
The submission date
A further clue is given by the presentation date of this model, October 9th. There are therefore few doubts about what Yamaha has in store for us, so the appointment is for next Wednesday 9 October at 3.00 pm when the Japanese company will unveil the new model and we will be ready to tell you about it.
