SAVONA – Sethu has announced the release of the limited edition physical version of his first album “tutti i colori delscuro” (Carosello Records) on vinyl, in stores and e-commerce from Friday 1st November and available for pre-order from September 26th for the public. Sethu is one of the very first Italian artists to create a zoetropic vinyl: a premium quality vinyl, one of a kind, which thanks to the circular movement of the turntable sees the graphics on the surface come to life like a small cinematographic work. The vinyl is embellished with an exclusive tracklist: in addition to the 11 tracks of the original version, it will also be possible to listen on vinyl to the single “Croci” with Sally Cruz, the new collaboration with bnkr44 in “Sottosopra” and the unreleased “Orochimaru” ( this last song will not be released digitally and will remain a vinyl exclusive). Furthermore, the vinyl includes one of the 14 original posters inspired by the songs on the album.
The artist from Savona, known to the general public thanks to his participation in the 2023 Sanremo Festival, published “All the colors of the dark” for the first time on May 17th, telling and sharing all the nuances of a very complex period – the one following his participation at the Festival – in which he found himself torn between light and shadow, satisfaction and defeat, deep darkness and new light. That Festival, which was one of the most beautiful moments ever experienced by the artist – so much so that it led him to perform as an opener for artists such as Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, Sfera Ebbasta, Geolier and Massimo Pericolo – also had an impact on his mental health, which was worn out from pressures and expectations of the moment.
It is no coincidence that all the tracks on the album – with the sole exception of the song “too tired” and the bonus tracks “crosses”, “upside down” and “orochimaru” – were created by the two twins, Sethu and Jiz, in span of a few months, between September and last February, after having made the choice to return to therapy and give himself the opportunity to feel well again: «After the period of great intensity and involvement of the Sanremo Festival, the the backlash of returning to juggle being an Artist in a very complex historical period. (…) Towards the end of the summer the first episodes of depression resurfaced, making me go back to dark places in my mind where I was convinced I would never go again, so much so that I decided – both Jiz and I – to go back to therapy. It’s the therapy that unlocked us in writing the album, the need for this album arose from there”, says Sethu. «Mental health and depression are often seen as monolithic entities, but I believe that there are many facets within them that reflect very different moments. It’s not black or white. I wrote this album starting from my personal experience, but it wants to speak to the many kids, older or younger than me, who experience the same difficulties.”
“All the colors of the dark” explores the different nuances of Sethu’s artistic universe also on a musical level, not only in terms of content: in addition to careful attention to the dark aesthetic taken from the imagery of horror films of the seventies, revived even from the posters that can be purchased together with the vinyl, the album is full of research, quotes and dynamism. Moreover, Sethu’s is a reading of the contemporary world shared above all by the new generations who are trying to make their dreams and objectives come true, but who in doing so inevitably encounter precariousness, eco-anxiety, denialism, fear for the future and wars, falling into disillusionment that this world no longer allows the possibility of dreaming. Despite everything, the hope of finding salvation persists, which emerges clearly in “i Ragazzi Perduti”, the album’s focus track.
