Josh Brolin talks about his rejection of the role of Green Lantern and his possible future in the DCU
After turning down the role of Hal Jordan for the Lanterns TV series, Josh Brolin has spoken out about not tackling the HBO drama, although he’s keeping the door open for future opportunities at DC Universe. One of the new TV shows in the works from the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” slate is the live-action Green Lantern series for HBO. What Josh Brolin’s Green Lantern Comments Mean for James Gunn’s DC Universe
Although Brolin’s casting for Lanterns has not been finalized, his recent comments seem to indicate a number of good things for the DC Universe in general. For starters, there didn’t seem to be any heated situations during the negotiations between him and DC Studios to have Brolin in Lanterns. From what he stated in his last interview, it just wasn’t a deal, but at least it ended amicably, leading to Chandler finally landing the role of Hal for Lanterns.
While Brolin may not have a role right now in Gunn’s DC Universe, the Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran is clearly open to joining DC Studios if the right opportunity presents itself. Outside the TV show Lanternsthere are many more projects in the works, leaving a wide range of possible DC heroes or villains for Brolin to potentially play in the future. Whether in Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters”, or in a future chapter, the prospect of the actor appearing once again in superheroes.
