ROME – Poste Italiane announces that today, 1 October 2024, an ordinary stamp belonging to the thematic series “Italian Excellences in Entertainment” dedicated to radio and television in Italy is issued by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy: first television broadcast, in 70th anniversary, relating to the value of fare B equal to €1.25. Circulation: two hundred thousand and four copies. Sheet: twenty-eight copies. The stamp is printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato SpA, in rotogravure, on white, neutral coated, self-adhesive, non-fluorescent paper.
Sketch edited by the Rai Communication Department and optimized by the Philatelic Center of the Traditional Values and Production Cards Workshop of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato SpA The cartoon depicts the opening theme of the Rai TV broadcasts which shows, against the background of the sky, a pylon where some radio and television waves converge; the composition is sealed by a blue box in which the letters “T” and “V” are set, an acronym for television. The stamp takes inspiration from vintage graphics by the Italian designer and advertiser Erberto Carboni. Above, on the left, the logo created by Rai to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first radio broadcast and the 70th anniversary of the first television broadcast is reproduced.
The stamp is completed by the legends “70ANNI DI TELEVISION” and “RAI-RADIOTELEVISION ITALIANA”, the writing “ITALIA” and the tariff indication “B”. The first day of issue cancellation will be available at the Turin Philately Space.
