9:14 – The images of Marc Marquez’s rescue are truly impressive, with his Ducati practically lying on the ground and the rider using his elbow and knee to lift it and avoid the fall.
9:13 – The Pramac pair sets the pace, with Morbidelli ahead of Martìn with an advantage of around 3 tenths. Franco found great confidence with the track right from the start. Bezzecchi also did well, third ahead of Bastianini and Marc Marquez.
9:12 – Bastianini does very well and easily enters the top ten, while Bagnaia suffers slightly as he is 13th. Meanwhile, Brivio has just confirmed that Miguel Oliveira will also miss Japan, as was obvious given the broken wrist. He should be replaced by Savadori at Motegi.
9:11 – Marc Marquez has done it again: impressive save!
9:09 – A look at the leaderboard when about 10 minutes have passed.
9:07 – Acosta is approaching the 1’31 mark, the times are already becoming similar to those of the morning. Pedro however made a mistake in turn 1! Yellow flag in the first sector.
9:06 – Times are starting to get more interesting, with Acosta now ahead of everyone and Binder following closely behind.
9:04 – Luca Marini scores the best time, but after a while he is passed again by Morbidelli. In any case, the Honda doesn’t seem to be in a bad situation in Mandalika, even this morning Zarco was very strong.
9:03 – Morbidelli at the start is immediately ahead of everyone again, but shortly after he overthrows Jorge Martìn. Times obviously still far from the expected references.
9:02 – The drivers are on track with very different tire choices. Bagnaia, for example, is using a hard front and a medium rear, while Quartararo entered with a soft front and a medium rear. The tires to be used in the race have yet to be identified and the drivers will work on this in the first minutes of the session, and then think about the timing.
9:00 – Green light at the end of the Mandalika pitlane, the session starts.
8:58 – Intense conversation between Davide Tardozzi and Michele Masini of Gresini Racing in the pitlane, just as the session is about to start.
8:56 – Bagnaia certainly didn’t shine this morning, struggling with the little grip available on the Mandalika asphalt.
8:54 – Unfortunately Miguel Oliveira will not be on track, having fractured his right wrist and will be operated on in Portugal.
8:52 – The air temperature is 30 degrees, but what is striking is the temperature of the asphalt, which reaches 60 degrees! It really will be a great challenge for Michelin.
8.50 – Good morning and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the second free practice session in Indonesia, which will obviously be decisive for gaining access to Q2. Spectacular location!
Today’s FP2 in Indonesia will certainly be very interesting. In the morning Franco Morbidelli set the best time ahead of Vinales and Jorge Martìn. Although FRanco was constantly at the top, it seems clear that we have to wait for this FP2 to understand the true values on the field, because not all the big names pushed to the maximum. In fact, Martìn, Marquez and Bastianini finished in the top ten, but none of them showed off a benchmark performance, at least on the flying lap. Even Pecco Bagnaia was certainly not impressive, finishing in 14th place and complaining about grip problems with the asphalt which is certainly not in optimal conditions.
Miguel Oliveira will be missing on track, having suffered a bad fall in the 14th with a possible wrist fracture. The Portuguese was taken to hospital in Mataran for checks.
Our LIVE coverage of the session will start at 9am, Stay Tuned!
This is the ranking of this morning’s FP1:
