New details about the Thunderbolts movie revealed by one of the biggest stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier)played by Sebastian Stanhas been in the MCU almost since the beginning, having debuted in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. Now, he will have to take on the role of leader in the film Thunderbolts (2025) and it’s sure to spark some great situations within this peculiar team.
In a recent interview with Variety, actor Sebastian Stan discussed Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts while promoting The Apprenticehis new film where he plays Donald Trump: “It may or may not be the new Avengers, with one over the cuckoo’s nest, Bucky is a guy who comes into this group that was chaotic and degenerate, and somehow finds a way to bring them together.”
According to some rumors, the characters of Bucky Barnes and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) will compete to be the leaders of the team.
The actor also praised Kevin Feige and the MCU.
In the same interview, Sebastian Stan said:
“It’s become very convenient to attack Marvel Films movies. And that’s fine. Everyone has an opinion. But they are a big part of what contributes to this business and allows us to have smaller movies. This is an artery that travels through the system of this whole machine that is Hollywood. It feeds, in a lot more ways, than people recognize.”
“I get protective of it sometimes because the intention is really good. It’s just really hard to make a good movie over and over again.”
Hopefully, Thunderbolts will make a good movie, as it could be a lot of fun to see these supporting characters in action. The actor also praised Kevin Feige.
“I’m someone who has witnessed Kevin Feige as the most selfless man on this planet who, despite the enormous success he’s had, has never changed or wavered.”
“They legitimately spend so much time thinking, ‘How could we surprise people and give people something different?’ Their big motto is, ‘The best idea wins.’ It just comes from a good place, and that’s the only reason I get protective sometimes.”
To critics of the MCU, he said: “Keep an open heart. Don’t be so quick to judge.”
The movie looks quite interesting.
Thunderbolts will reunite Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr / Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / US Agent. They will also be joined by Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff and Lewis Pullman as Robert Reynolds / Sentry.
The story of Thunderbolts will focus on a group of characters who must team up to carry out a very dangerous mission, in the style of DC Comics’ Suicide Squad.
