The FP1 of the Superbike in Cremona opens with a damp track and half of the riders stuck in the pits. On the other hand, it was to be expected, considering that the track conditions were not the best. The fact is that the best time was achieved by Sam Lowes in 1’36”007 ahead of the Kawasaki of his brother Alex.
Rinaldi’s Ducati comes in third with Locatelli behind, while Alvaro Bautista is fifth, three seconds and six tenths from the top. Behind him are the world champion Reiterberger and Canepa.
Bulega, Petrucci and Iannone did not take to the track, with the latter remaining in the pits without even putting on his suit.
At this point FP2 will be crucial to understand the tyres and sensations.
11:05 Round over: Sam Lowes finishes ahead of everyone with a time of 1’36″007.
11:02 A few timid rays of sunshine make their way through the clouds and Alex Lowes leaves the box with the Kawasaki together with Locatelli. The Turk, however, is at the end with Sam Lowes still in command.
11:00 Rinaldi improves and moves up to fourth position behind Ray. We now enter the last 5 minutes of the session.
10:59 Michael Rinaldi also joins the group of riders on the track. The Romagnola finishes the first lap nine seconds from the top with the Motocorsa Panigale.
10.56am Track conditions improve slightly and Sam Lowes arrives at 1’38″345.
10:55 There are 10 minutes left in FP1 and only a third of the riders have taken to the track. In the meantime, here’s a shot of the winged Yamaha GRT.
10:45 Sam Lowes now enters the track with the Ducati. After the first laps the Marc VDS rider is three seconds away from the top.
10:38 Bridewell and Fritz now enter the track. Meanwhile Bautista lowers the reference to 1’41″672.
10:35 Iannone is in the pits without his suit. These conditions certainly do not encourage the riders to get on the bike and go out on the track.
10:30 The current reference of the session is Bautista in 1’42″296. The Spaniard precedes Reiterberger by one second and seven tenths, who recently entered the track with the BMW. 3rd is Canepa with the Yamaha, called to replace Rea.
10:25 SBK FP1 has begun in Cremona. Damp track, not the best conditions to face the start of the session. At the moment Bautista and Canepa are the only riders on the track.
At 10:25 the FP1 of the Superbike will start in Cremona. There is great anticipation to see what the sensations of the riders will be in this absolute first of the Lombard track. The big absentees are Toprak and Rea, consequently Bulega has the great opportunity to fill the gap in the Championship.
We will therefore see what the values will be on the field with Petrucci, Bautista and Iannone intending to play a leading role and Yamaha showing off its wings.
