16:10 – Our LIVE coverage of the second MotoGP free practice session at Misano ends here, thanks for following it with us. Stay tuned to GPOne for all the statements from the protagonists directly from the paddock, Stay Tuned!
16:07 – Pecco Bagnaia is the best at the end of the second free practice session at Misano and literally leads the charge of the four riders who are fighting for the title. Martìn finishes in second place despite a fall at the end, with Marc Marquez completing the virtual front row. Fourth fastest time for Bastianini, who also fell at the end of the session, while Quartararo shines again, taking the M1 into Q2 for the second consecutive time.
Sixth time for Morbidelli ahead of Bezzecchi, Vinales and Pedro Acosta, the only KTM rider in Q2. Aleix Espargarò takes the second Aprilia Factory into Q2, while the two KTM factory riders suffer with Miller 11th and Binder only 15th after falling at the end of the session. It is worth noting the bad fall of Fabio Di Giannantonio, who unfortunately took a blow to his already injured shoulder. We have no news, but from the images, it seems clear that the Italian from VR46 has a problem with his already dislocated shoulder.
16:02 – Pecco Bagnaia closes with the best time ahead of Martìn, Marquez and Bastianini. The standings
16:00 – The checkered flag waves, unfortunately Bastianini crashes at lap 14. However, Enea is in Q2.
15:59 – Brad Binder also crashes at the end of the session, dropping him out of Q2.
15:58 – Bad news for Di Giannantonio, who fell and is holding his shoulder… let’s hope Fabio hasn’t dislocated it again.
15:56 – Quartararo improves and finishes with the 5th time, Miller 8th puts Aleix Espargarò out. Martìn crashes!
15:55 – Martìn completes the lap and improves but remains second. Quartararo’s red helmet in the first sector. Morbidelli 10th now.
15:54 – The two KTM factory riders are currently out of Q2, with Miller 13th and Binder 15th. Marc Marquez now enters the track, with his brother Alex behind him, who will perhaps take advantage of his brother’s catch to get into Q2.
15:53 - Martìn enters the track, and will now fire his last bullets. Fabio Di Giannantonio is out of Q2, while Quartararo remains in the game, who is 7th at about 8 tenths from Pecco.
15:52 – Bastianini continues to improve, red helmet in the first and third sectors. Enea completes the lap and is still 4th but now 3 tenths behind Pecco. The 4 rivals for the title are ahead of everyone now.
15:52 – Bastianini slips into 4th position, getting his hands on Q2. Meanwhile Bagnaia is very fast in his second consecutive attempt and sets the clock at 1’30’286, putting himself ahead of everyone!
15:50 – Bagnaia completes the lap and remains in third position, 3 tenths behind Martìn. The standings
15:49 – Marc Marquez moves up to second, Vinales 4th behind Bagnaia. Di Giannantonio makes his presence felt, now 9th.
15:48 – Alex Marquez returns to the track now, Vinales red helmet in the third sector.
15:47 – Aleix Espargarò’s lap is cancelled, Martìn in the meantime laps in 1’30’531 and confirms himself as the best. Bagnaia now enters the track. Fall for Augusto Fernandez, yellow flag shown.
15:47 – Now Jorge is pushing, having done two laps perhaps to get the tires to the perfect temperature. Red helmet in the first sector and also in the second.
15:45 – Martìn is not improving, despite having new tires. Many riders are now on the track to launch for the first of the time attacks, Marquez and Bagnaia still in the pits.
15:43 – Martìn has entered the track, maybe he already has two new tires according to the live timing. Marc Marquez does two laps but comes back to the pits. Almost everyone is in the pits now.
15:41 – There are 18 minutes left in this session, now the real time attack phase will begin. Quartararo is still excellent, aiming to enter Q2 again as he did two weeks ago. Fabio is 8th now.
15:38 – Morbidelli’s lap is cancelled, he is about to enter the top ten again. Franco is now relaunching himself. Alex Marquez crashes at the entrance to turn 1. Alex is currently 9th and this crash certainly complicates his and Gresini’s plans. The second bike is already ready in the garage.
15:37 – Very good Bastianini, who improves and laps in 1’31’472 but remains in 6th position behind Marc. At the moment it seems that he is missing about half a second of pace compared to Bagnaia.
15:36 – Bagnaia completes another pass and improves but remains in second. In any case, Pecco is putting together an impressive pace on this run. According to live timing, his tires already have 12 laps under their belt.
15:35 – Pecco insists and scores a red helmet in the first sector, he wants to snatch the lead from Martìn who is currently in the pits.
15:34 – Red helmet for Bagnaia in the third sector, who then laps at the finish line in 1’31’038 and does not improve. 25 minutes to go until the checkered flag.
15:33 – Bastianini moves into 5th place ahead of Marquez, who responds immediately! Marc 5th in 1’31’292, about two tenths better than Enea.
15:32 – Martìn gets a red helmet in the first sector, then loses the advantage in the second and seems to have aborted the lap. Bezzecchi is still improving, and is currently 3rd.
15:31 – We are halfway through the session, so far all the drivers are running on tyres that have already had several laps on them, so there has been no real time attack. We will probably have to wait at least another 15 minutes before we see the hunt for the stopwatch and Q2 begin.
15:30 – Third time for Bezzecchi, now Acosta is improving. Bastianini meanwhile is 6th and seems to have fewer problems than the other appointment here in Misano.
15:28 – Nice leap by Bezzecchi who climbed to 5th position and continues to improve. Marco had been very fast in qualifying two weeks ago, but then in the race he was unable to capitalize.
15:27 – The ranking changes with Martìn who puts himself in front of everyone. Here is the situation
15:25 – Red helmet for Martìn in the second sector, Morbidelli now enters the top ten with the 10th time.
15:24 – Martìn is improving now, aiming to oust Bagnaia from the top of the standings. Acosta is also improving. Pecco on the track now.
15:22 – Problem for Oliveira, we don’t know if it’s a fall or a technical problem.
15:21 – Marc Marquez takes another step forward and sets the 4th time, half a second behind Bagnaia. Vinales has not improved despite being the best in the 3rd sector.
15:20 – Jorge Martín is back on track now, while Vinales scores a red helmet in the third sector.
15:19 – Marc is improving now, setting the 6th time behind Vinales, about 7 tenths behind Bagnaia’s reference, who is stuck in the pits like Martìn now.
15:17 – Almost the first third of this session has passed, many riders are stuck in the pits after the first exit to work on the bikes. There is still a long way to go before we see the real time attacks.
15:16 – Strange that Marc can’t improve, he remains last, more than two seconds behind Bagnaia. Perhaps the Spaniard is trying different tyre specifications.
15:15 – Marc Marquez is improving now, he is currently 20th and last.
15:14 – The first run of Bagnaia, who will certainly want to return to winning ways at Misano after suffering a double defeat here two weeks ago.
15:13 – Quartararo meanwhile moves up to 4th place ahead of Vinales.
15:12 – Let’s take a look at the standings, with Bagnaia having lapped in 1’30’924.
15:10 – Acosta exaggerates and ends up on the ground at 14, fortunately without consequences.
15:08 – Bagnaia beats Martìn’s reference and climbs to the top of the standings. Vinales 4th, then Binder and Oliveira.
15:07 – Martìn laps in 1’31’325, second Acosta who now marks a red helmet. Remember that Misano will be the first track on which Acosta returns to race with MotoGP, perhaps it will be the occasion to observe his full potential.
15:06 – Lots of red helmets at this stage, Acosta is now in front but both Martìn and Bagnaia are completing their laps.
15:06 – Acosta immediately touches the 1’32 wall. Vinales second and then Bezzecchi. But now Martìn passes, who laps in 1’31’846.
15:04 – At the start Franco Morbidelli takes the lead, but obviously we are far from the benchmarks expected for this session.
15:02 – Quartararo on track behind Marc Marquez. Just yesterday Lin Jarvis confirmed that Yamaha is working on a V4 engine for the future of the M1
3:00 PM – Green light, the 60 minutes of this session begin.
14:59 – Franco Morbidelli is looking for confirmation after his excellent first week here in Misano. The Pramac rider will once again aim to reach Q2 and the front row, hoping to then make the most of it in the race too.
14:57 – Alex Rins will not be on track, he has a very high fever and will miss this session.
14:56 – Marc Marquez won here two weeks ago and will no doubt be one to watch all weekend.
14:55 – Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the second and decisive free practice session at Misano. Luckily the sun is shining on the track named after Marco Simoncelli!
After a first free practice session largely conditioned by the rain that fell during the night, in Misano everything is ready for the second and decisive session, which as always will assign direct access to Q2 to the best ten riders. This morning Marc Marquez shone, but his time was far from the references seen in the GP two weeks ago, because the grip present on the asphalt invited the riders not to exaggerate.
It should also be remembered that after the Grand Prix, there was a test session in Misano with all the riders, so it would have been difficult to work on any new technical or set-up changes today, by now all the finishing touches have been made and this morning it would have been important to simply run to find certain sensations on the part of the riders. However, rain is not expected this afternoon in Misano, so it looks like a heated session with many contenders for the top ten at the end of the day and therefore promoted to Q2.
Our LIVE coverage of the second MotoGP free practice session will start a few minutes before 3pm, Stay Tuned!
