Choreographer Ed Wubbe will be awarded the Dance Pin during the Dutch Dance Days 2024 in Maastricht for his “impressive contribution to the Dutch dance sector”, according to the organization. Wubbe is stepping down as artistic director of Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, the oldest dance company in the country. Wubbe determined the course of the company, founded in 1945, for some thirty years.
Choreographer Wies Bloemen will also receive the pin for what she has meant to dance. She left Danstheater AYA last March. According to the initiators, the pin is for people “who have transferred knowledge, wisdom and experience for decades within the Dutch dance field. A symbol of continuity and cultural memory”.
Wies Bloemen will receive the Dance Pin on Sunday 6 October, during the performance of Hoop! Ed Wubbe will receive the pin on Saturday 5 October, during the performance of Meesterwerken.
