Although DC Studios is now following a clear direction in terms of joint and independent projects, there was a time when several separate universes coexisted. One of them was the Arrowverse, which started with great success but lost steam until it disappeared in 2023 with the end of The Flash.
However, it seems The CW had big plans for one of its leads, Green Arrow. During Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Stephen Amellwho played Oliver Queen in the series, revealed that there were plans to bring the character to the big screen with a violent, R-rated film. However, it seems that Warner Bros. has finally decided to reject the idea.
“We tried to move forward with it,” Amell said, surprising the interviewer when he asked if there had been plans for a feature film. “From my perspective, the project was abandoned by the studio, as I think there were people making decisions motivated by fear.”
Even though a movie Green Arrow could have been very interesting, Warner Bros. felt that the character was not attractive enough to star in her own film. Given the cancellation of projects like Batgirl, it would not be surprising if this project had suffered the same fate for reasons that have not yet been revealed.
