One of the best directors of today is back in style. After more than five years of absence, South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho has just released the first trailer for his next film, Mickey17which will have Robert Pattinson as a “dispensable” protagonist.
This adaptation of the book Mickey7 written by Edward Ashton tells the story of Mickey Barnes, an unexpected hero who finds himself in the strange circumstance of working for a businessman who demands a very peculiar commitment in his job: dying to earn a living.
As can be seen in the trailer, everything points to this film being, without a doubt, the most ambitious of the Asian director’s entire career, since in addition to having a great actor like Robert Pattinson as the lead, the cast includes very interesting names such as Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie.
As for the names behind the cameras, in addition to Joon-ho as director, the executive production is handled by big names in the industry, such as Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner or Jeremy Kleiner. Mickey17 is scheduled to be released in theaters around the world on January 28, 2025.
