While EA FC (and its predecessor FIFA) have recently focused heavily on the money-making Ultimate Team, the career mode is getting some love again this year.
EA FC 25’s Career Mode includes a number of new changes, including the ability to manage women’s teams, tactical improvements to FC IQ, and new mechanics for press conferences and team morale, designed to give gamers an even more immersive and realistic experience.
The hardest part of Career Mode, however, is always deciding where to start. Do you want to rebuild a fallen giant? Do you want to lead a second-tier team to Champions League glory? Do you want to topple a club like Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City?
Here are some ideas for your career mode in EA FC 25:
It’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? Ipswich Town are back in the Premier League for the first time in over two decades after two promotions in the last two seasons. Kieran McKenna has worked wonders for the Tractor Boys, but you’re the one who can take them to the next level.
First of all, they have to avoid relegation. In the rich Premier League, Ipswich still has one of the weakest squads in the league, despite significant spending in the summer.
It could be a worthwhile challenge to establish the team in the Premier League before moving up the table. Or it could be a bit too easy, depending on how good you are at EA FC 25.
FC Barcelona are currently the biggest club in women’s football, having won the quadruple last season. They remained unbeaten throughout the entire Liga F season – winning 29 of their 30 games – and boast some of the most exceptional stars in women’s football.
So why not take over city rivals Espanyol and replace Barça?
Espanyol were promoted from the second division last season and will be lucky if they avoid relegation in the 2024/25 season. However, with you at the helm, the team could become a regular in Liga F before challenging and eventually overtaking their rivals at the top of the table.
For many, there is only one team in Paris. That is, of course, Paris Saint-Germain, the 12-time Ligue 1 champions who reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season. They have the richest, strongest and most talented squad in France – and by a wide margin.
This is where Paris FC comes in. The Ligue 2 club is on the right track and reached the playoffs last season, but is still far from the top group.
Thanks to investment from Bahrain, the club is very rich, so you have a lot of money at your disposal to improve the squad from the start. After promotion to Ligue 1, the next task is to replace PSG as the most prominent team in Paris.
FC St. Pauli is a popular club in Germany and across Europe, known for its progressive policies and club culture. Their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2024/25 makes them an exciting choice for EA FC 25.
Again, maintaining your status as a Bundesliga club will be a challenge considering the wealth of the surrounding clubs. At some point, you can make it your mission to topple Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea are one of the most dominant teams in women’s football, and while Career Mode isn’t a particularly difficult challenge, aspiring managers have the opportunity to field some of the game’s best players and make some interesting transfers on the market.
However, there is also the added challenge of replacing Emma Hayes and outdoing the current coach of the US Women’s National Team. Can you lead Chelsea to the Champions League title they failed to win under Hayes’s leadership?
As much as we would like him to continue to terrify defences well into his 40s, the reality is that Lionel Messi’s time in professional football is coming to an end. Who knows how much longer we will be able to enjoy the Argentinian?
So it’s wise to take every opportunity to manage the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, who is currently at home at Inter Miami. Even if he retires shortly after you start your career – like his teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba might – it’s still worth it.
1860 Munich were one of the founding members of the Bundesliga in the early 1960s and even won the title in the 1965/66 season. They have won the DFB Cup twice and reached the final of the European Cup Winners’ Cup the year before their league triumph. However, they have fallen on a difficult period.
The Lions have been playing in the third division for seven seasons. They have not been in the Bundesliga since 2003/04 and have had to watch as their Munich rivals, Bayern, won one trophy after another (until Harry Kane came along).
It’s time for them to return where they belong.
To be honest, we chose Go Ahead Eagles because they’re called Go Ahead Eagles. Come on, do you really need another reason?
If that hasn’t quite convinced you, you should know that the Dutch team won the top division four times between 1916 and 1933, but has never won the title since the Eredivisie was founded in 1956.
They have also never won the KNVB Cup, which means they have a trophy cabinet that desperately needs filling.
Sampdoria, who have spent most of the last 30 years in Serie A, were relegated to the second division in 2022/23 after a truly dismal season in which they finished bottom of the table, a team that won Serie A in 1990/91 and reached the European Cup final the following season.
Sampdoria are stuck in Serie B in seventh place and Andrea Pirlo was recently sacked as coach. Claudio Ranieri, Sven-Göran Eriksson and Luciano Spalletti had previously taken over the job. Now it’s your turn.
