The telefilm Project Herbert by director Barbara Bredero will premiere on 23 September at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht. It is the first time in years that a telefilm, made for broadcast on television, will have a premiere evening at the event. The NFF finds the film, starring Thomas Höppener and André Dongelmans, so special that a special evening has been organised at Kinepolis Jaarbeurs.
The tragicomedy is about the introverted municipal official Herbert who is thrown out of his parental home by his mother at the age of forty. Due to the overheated housing market he cannot find a place to live. By accident he is admitted to a student house.
“I always look for stories that reflect the spirit of the times and help humanity move forward,” says Bredero. “This story is an example of that. It not only offers a mirror to society, but also gives hope and perspective on how people can adapt to changing times. It is a film that makes people laugh, moves them and makes them think.”
Project Herbert will air on TV later this season.
