The court in Lelystad will hear the substantive case on Wednesday concerning the man who wanted to murder TV presenter Tim Hofman. 42-year-old Chris T. from Breda is suspected of attempted murder of Hofman with a terrorist motive.
On September 6, 2023, T. entered the BNNVARA building in Hilversum armed. There he told a security guard that he wanted to shoot Hofman. After the police were alerted, officers were able to arrest the man outside the broadcasting building. Hofman was not in the building at the time.
In addition to the suspicion of attempted murder of Hofman, T. is also suspected of preparing a murder of another victim in Oss. On August 18, 2023, he is said to have prepared the murder of an emergency worker by going to the victim’s workplace with a firearm, a converted gas pistol. This is said to be the same weapon that he had with him on September 6 at the Hilversum Mediapark.
Hofman was previously heard as a witness in the case. He reconstructed the events last year in his program BOOS. According to him, the suspect wanted to send a signal to society by killing him, aimed at “extreme left-wing people”.
