There is one more reason to go to the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” on the occasion of the MotoGP Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. From Friday 20 September to Sunday 22 September 2024, in the rooms of Garage 51 in Grandstand C, the exhibition “The world of Massimo Tamburini” will be set up, dedicated to the famous creator of some of the most beautiful motorcycles ever made.
An initiative strongly desired by the daughter of the designer from Rimini, Simona Tamburini, and which occurs on the 10th anniversary of Massimo’s death and the 30th anniversary of the production of one of his most important “creations”, the Ducati 916.
The famous twin-cylinder from Bologna is one of the many “works” that can be admired in the exhibition, conceived as a review of the creations made by Massimo Tamburini between 1973, the year he founded the Rimini-based motorcycle manufacturer Bimota, and the end of the early 2000s, when his intense collaboration with MV Agusta ended.
Among the bikes on display, the Bimota HB1 and KB2 from the early 70s could not be missed; the Ducati 750 Paso, the first work created in 1986 for Ducati during the Cagiva management and the Ducati 916, which earned Tamburini many successes on and off the circuits and the nickname of “Michelangelo of two wheels”. The MV Agusta F4 and Brutale, which closed the season at MV (before his retirement in 2008) and several other models also contribute to composing the ideal “catalogue” of the designer’s works.
The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Motor Valley, Visit Emilia Romagna, Garage 51, and the contribution of Ducati Motor Holding, with the exhibition of some motorcycles from the Ducati Museum (such as Carl Fogarty’s 1995 916 and Troy Bayliss’s 2002 998, victorious on the Romagna circuit), represent the fundamental narrative for understanding the mastery of Massimo Tamburini, in an exhibition that enriches the already rich program of events related to the sports weekend.
On the final day, Massimo Tamburini’s daughter, Simona, and Livio Lodi, curator of the Ducati Museum, who contributed to the creation of the exhibition, will be present at the exhibition.
