There are hours left until one month of the launch of Black Myth: Wukong, a game developed by Game Science and inspired by the novel called Journey to the WestIt is considered one of the great classical literary works in China and one of the most popular in all of East Asia. Beyond that, the video game managed to make the entire world lose its mind.
We’ve had plenty of time to explore its wonderful world, take on its bosses and uncover some very interesting secrets. Needless to say, modders have done their thing. There are mods to suit all tastes, but one is particularly ironic: it replaces Wukong with God of War’s Kratos.
Its creator, EVG, drags the Spartan from the Nordic lands to China to undertake the mythical Journey to the West. And why is it ironic? Because he once again faces another group of gods intent on revenge. It is true that in Ragnarök he was more restrained than in the original installments, but even so he took down a few of them.
The mod is very cool overall, although it does have one small problem: its creator has chosen to keep the Leviathan Axe, which doesn’t fit very well with Wukong’s staff fighting style. And it’s not a matter of choice, because Kratos has wielded several similar weapons. The Spears of Destiny and/or Draupnir would have been a perfect choice, even the Blade of Olympus would fit better. Another modder introduced a Space Marine from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and turned the sword into a Pudao.
