Chinese automotive giant Dongfeng is preparing to strengthen its presence in the Italian market, after the previews presented in Turin. The company is launching its new range of SUVs under the DFSK brand, an acronym for Dongfeng Sokon Automobil, an automobile manufacturer founded in 2003 as a 50/50 joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Chongqing Sokon Industrial Group.
Chinese SUVs, DFSK models also LPG
The Chinese models of the DFSK brand available for the Italian market are the E5 PHEV plug-in hybrid SUV and the Glory 500, Glory 580 and Glory 600 F5 (IX5) SUVs, the latter all offered with petrol engines or, alternatively, bi-fuel LPG.
DFSK Glory 600 ed E5 PHEV
These Chinese car models are distributed in Italy by China Car Company, with operational headquarters in Prato and registered office in Livorno, which has become the sole official importer and distributor of DFSK cars in Italy starting from September 13, 2023. The company manages about a hundred points of sale and service centers in Italy and has signed an agreement with Sirmec (Lucana Commerciale) for the supply of spare parts.
Glory 500, SUV benzina e GPL
The DFSK range opens with the Glory 500, a compact C-segment SUV (4.38 metres long, 1.85 metres wide and 1.65 metres high). The model is offered with a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine with 116 HP and 148 Nm of torque, available in both petrol and LPG bi-fuel versions, with manual or automatic CVT transmission.
DFSK Glory 500
The base price starts at 17,988 euros for the manual version, which includes full LED headlights and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The higher versions are the Standard (from 19,788 euros) with cruise control and keyless entry, and the Luxury (from 21,588 euros), which adds a panoramic roof, parking sensors and downhill stability control. The LPG option is available for all versions with a surcharge of 1,800 euros.

Glory 580, SUV benzina e GPL
In the DFSK range, the Glory 580 also increases in size, a medium SUV with dimensions of 4.72 meters in length, 1.85 meters in width and 1.72 meters in height. This model, powered by a 1.5 Turbo engine with 150 HP and 220 Nm of torque, is only available in the Intelligent trim and can be chosen with petrol or bi-fuel LPG power.

It is equipped with a 1.5 TGDi turbo engine with 185 HP and 300 Nm of torque, capable of reaching 180 km/h, and can be configured with petrol or dual fuel (petrol and LPG). Available in White, Light Grey, Grey and Black, the price starts at 29,588 euros.

The DFSK Glory IX5 is a mid-size SUV Coupé, 4.69 meters long, 1.87 meters wide and 1.65 meters high. It is equipped with a 1.5 Turbo engine with 150 hp and 220 Nm of torque, available in both petrol and bi-fuel LPG, combined only with a manual gearbox.

DFSK E5, SUV ibrido plug-in
The DFSK E5 PHEV is a generously sized SUV, measuring 4.74 metres in length, 1.87 metres in width and 1.71 metres in height, designed with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The vehicle is therefore equipped with a 1.5-litre internal combustion engine, which delivers 110 hp (81 kW), and a 177 hp (130 kW) electric motor. This combination allows the SUV to have a purely electric range of 87 km and a total range of approximately 1,000 km.

The E5 PHEV’s battery, with a capacity of 17.52 kWh, can be fully recharged in about four hours. The model is available in a single version, priced at 36,888 euros, with the option of adding an extra paint job for 488 euros.

Who is DFSK?
DFSK Motor, short for Dongfeng Sokon Automobile, is a Chinese manufacturer of the Chongqing Sokon Industrial Group. Founded on June 27, 2003 as a 50-50 joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Chongqing Sokon, DFSK produces microvans, light commercial vehicles and low-cost cars. DFSK was the first Chinese brand to export to Europe, is ranked among the top 500 companies in China and distributes its vehicles in over 70 countries. Today it has seven production centers, one of which is in the United States (in the State of Indiana) and a Research and Development center also in the USA, in Silicon Valley.
