Batman will be the first superhero to receive a star on the Walk of Fame. The Dark Knight will have his recognition placed on Hollywood Boulevard at the end of September. The news has, of course, gone around the world.
This is not the first fictional character to receive a star on the Walk of Fame, as the same recognition has previously gone to figures such as Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny and the Simpsons.
The legend of Batman was born in 1939, after the character made his debut in Detective Comics. Bill Finger and Bob Kane gave life to a character immersed in a noir setting, who fights against crime formed by mafia bosses, but also by sinister figures such as the iconic Joker.
His arrival on the screen will happen very soon, considering that the first adaptations of Batman date back to the 1940s. But the TV series starring Adam West, which was made in the 1960s, will give a new light to the character.
When will the ceremony take place?
Batman is still considered an iconic figure today, who found a new interpretation in comics thanks to Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, published in 1986. Without that story, it is likely that there would be no Tim Burton’s Batman.
The American director himself was recently awarded a star on the Walk of Fame, in the same month as the character he helped establish in popular culture in the 1990s, creating Bat-Mania.
Batman’s Walk of Fame induction ceremony will be held on September 26 at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, across from the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum.
