Bergamo returns to dream with the magical European nights. After having conquered a historic Europa League, theAtalanta hosts theArsenal in the match valid for the first day of the single round of Champions League. For the Goddess it is the opportunity to channel the enthusiasm for the championship victory against Fiorentina and use it to achieve the second consecutive success. The opponent, however, is one of the most difficult, given that the Gunners have never lost so far, collecting three wins and a draw in the first four matchdays of Premier League.
The appointment is for 21:00 tomorrow, Thursday 19 September 2024, at the Gewiss Stadium for the debut match between Atalanta and Arsenal in this edition of the Champions League.
The match between Atalanta and Arsenal will be visible in Italy exclusively on Sky Sport, which has acquired the TV rights for all the Champions League matches (with the exception of one match on Wednesday, exclusively on Amazon Video, which this week switched to Man City-Inter). Only Sky subscribers will be able to watch the match live on TV by tuning into Sky Sport Uno. Alternatively, there is the NowTv solution, which is also part of the Sky company.

Only one doubt hovers in Gasperini’s mind and it concerns the three-quarter line, where if Lookman is certain of a place, the same cannot be said for De Ketelaere, currently given the lead but still threatened by Samardzic and Brescianini. Retegui will lead the attack, while De Roon will still act as a defender, leaving space for Pasalic alongside Ederson in midfield. For Arsenal, however, Calafiori’s European debut has been postponed. Arteta in fact prefers Saliba and Gabriel, while on the left it should be Timber to make up for Zinchenko’s injury.
Atalanta (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; De Roon, Hien, Kolasinac; Bellanova, Pasalic, Ederson, Ruggeri; Lookman, De Ketelaere; Retegui. Coach: Gasperini.
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, J. Timber; Partey, Rice, Trossard; Saka, Martinelli, Havertz. Coach: Arteta.
Atalanta-Arsenal Precedents
On paper, Arsenal should be the favourites to start, yet Dea has already shown in the past that it knows how to excel in Europe. Atalanta feels at ease when it faces opponents who play an open game, who pay more attention to attack than to defence, and with the spaces that the Gunners will inevitably grant the arrows of the Gasp can feast and hit the first victory of this European campaign.
Atalanta vs Arsenal Prediction: 2-1
