“In 10 years of activity, Airalzh onlus has funded 82 research grants, to which were added 26 projects for researchers under 40, for a total investment of over 4 million euros. Results that make us proud and that were obtained thanks to the contribution of large and small donors who have always supported us”. This is what Alessandra Mocali, president of the Italian Alzheimer Research Association, told Adnkronos Salute, during the press conference for the tenth anniversary of the foundation of Airalzh, at the Ministry of Health in Rome.
Among the research projects funded by Airalzh, Mocali lists those on “prevention, early diagnosis, identification of targets and new pharmacological therapies”. This year “3 calls have been published: Agyr, the first Airalzh Starting Grants that aims to fund translational medicine projects, and the first call on Art-therapy, using donations linked to the use of drawings by a patient that were kindly donated to us by the family. The drawings were used to make soaps and notebooks (the latter printed by the Pigna company) on sale in Coop centers. The proceeds will go to research on Alzheimer’s”, he concludes.
