Rome, suicide in Regina Coeli: prisoner found hanged in his cell

Rome, 17 September 2024 – A fifty-year-old Italian man took his own life, arrested on August 25th for mistreatment in the family, he decided to end it all and at around 6.45 he was found hanged in his cell in the Roman prison of Regina Coeli.

AND Second inmate commits suicide in 12 hours, 72nd since the beginning of the year. “To these deaths, we must add the 7 members of the Penitentiary Police who took their own lives in 2024. An endless and unprecedented massacre that certifies, once again, the total failure of the prison system”. This was made known by Gennaro DeFazioSecretary General of the UIlpa Penitentiary Police.
