At least in their launch week they managed to be a success
Astro Bot has managed to become one of the biggest games of the year, and it seems to have sold quite well as well.

There were quite a few users who were excited about the launch of Astro Bot, and its predecessor, Astro’s Playroom, became from the very beginning an example of what a good platform game had to be. After the aforementioned launch, not only has it been placed as one of the best PS5 games, also positioning itself as a great favorite in the race towards the GOTY 2024, but we didn’t know if it would have been a sales success. Recent, high-quality titles, such as Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, have not managed to sell enough to be considered a success.
It’s been a short time and we have limited data to venture to say whether it is a true general success, but we are starting to receive the first sales data for this PS5 exclusive, which has been a real success. In this case we have two totally different sources.
First up is Mat Piscatella, a renowned analyst at Circana, who used Bluesky to provide early data on Astro Bot sales. He confirms that in the US, when you add up physical and digital sales, Astro Bot was the second best-selling game in its launch week (the week of September 2-8). The only title to top it was NBA 2K25, a classic in this country.
It doesn’t stop there, as Christopher Dring, head of GamesIndustry.biz, has made the following post on Twitter/X to confirm that it also managed to be the second best-selling game in the UK during its launch week. According to him, it would have sold 21% more than Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart in this country at launch.
Astro Bot’s UK launch is solid. First week sales are 21% higher than the debut of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart in 2021. Astro was No.2 last week behind Space Marine 2, which is the UK’s fastest-selling Warhammer game (beating Total War: Warhammer 3). More in the next GI Microcast

Astro Bot will continue to offer content
Astro Bot is, as we’ve already mentioned, one of the best games of the year, and it looks like it’s only going to get better with time. As confirmed by Team Asobi, they plan to release various content for free, especially focusing on new levels that will test the most completist users. We still don’t have a release date for this content, so we have to wait and see.
