The Superbike World Championship returns to Italy. After the mid-June round in Misano, it is now Cremona’s turn, making its absolute debut in the production-derived calendar. There is great curiosity to see how the Lombard track will present itself and there is no shortage of news.
One of these is linked to Yamaha, which could show off a significant evolution in view of the Italian round. As anticipated in recent months, the R1 could finally show its wings, thus sending a signal of change on the aerodynamic front and following what other competing manufacturers such as Honda, Ducati and BMW have done.
The production model does not have aerodynamic appendages, but by taking advantage of the super concessions with consequent request to the FIM, the latter can authorize the use of this innovation. The goal is to have greater stability at the front end during acceleration and at the same time avoid wheelies.
According to what we have gathered, the Italian Superbike round could therefore be the right opportunity for Yamaha to bring the long-awaited wings to the track. We will see if this will be the case or not.
