Cooperative games have always been very popular due to their cooperative, social component and because they are industrial generators of good times. Some well-known ones like Among Us, Gang Beasts and Overcooked and other forgotten ones like Crash Bash. If we forget wonders like Mario KartSuper Mario Party, Party Animals y Ultimate Chiken Horseamong others. They all cry out to be shared, but they also put even the strongest loves to the test.
Today we want to remember a classic that was already breaking friendships long before the well-known Among Us. We’re talking about Castle Crashers. If you’ve never gotten together with three other friends to play this awesome game, you simply haven’t truly put the love of your friends, family, and/or partner to the test. It was released in 2008 by The Behemoth.
In case you’ve never played or don’t remember, Castle Crashers is a multiplayer cooperative experience. Each player chooses a character with different skills and weapons. The group must band together to face waves of enemies in side-scrolling scenarios, from minions to final bosses. However, there was one mechanic that turned the game into a social experiment.
When the group defeated the world’s final boss and rescued the princess, the game changed the rules completely: only one player could keep the princess. And what was a cooperative experience became a battle royale against other players in a matter of seconds. This posed a very paranoid dilemma: you had to take care of your allies in order to advance, but knowing that in the end you would have to face them.
If you have never had any problems with a friend, partner or family member while playing Castle Crashersthen I’m sorry to say that you didn’t get the most out of it. You can buy the remaster on the Xbox, PSN, eShop and Steam stores for no more than 15-20 Euros, depending on the sales. In fact, the latter has a Demo. If I have to go to hell for the betrayals I perpetrated in this game, so be it.
