John Legend has a lot of admiration for Taylor Swift’s statement in support of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Speaking to The Independent , the singer called his fellow artist’s statement “the perfect statement.”
The 45-year-old singer acknowledged in the interview that it was never that difficult for him to express his political views. “It was difficult for Taylor to speak out for liberal and progressive candidates because she comes from a country music scene, where the fan base is a lot more conservative,” Legend said. “It was riskier for her to talk about politics than it was for me. I always respected the fact that she was willing to take that risk.”
Legend himself is also outspoken about his preference. Harris should be the next American president, the singer believes. “She is more intelligent, she understands the problems of Americans better and has better solutions.”
