Throughout the Lord of the Rings universe there has been a long list of actors and actresses who have played the most iconic characters. We have the case of Ian McKellen with Gandalf, Elijah Wood with Frodo, Viggo Mortensen with Aragorn or Orlando Bloom with Legolas, among others. However, none of them have ever had a role in the film. the privilege that a supporting actor can boast of these feature films.
It turns out there is one actor who has appeared in every single production related to the franchise, so we could see him in all the films of the trilogy of The Lord of the Ringsin the three that make up The Hobbit and was also present in some of the episodes of the series The Rings of Power. Of course, it is understandable that more than one person has not noticed it.
The reason is that he has played very different characters and most of them had costumes and a lot of makeup that made it almost impossible to notice that behind them was the same actor: Jed Brophy. In fact, the only time we have been able to see him with his real face was in the trilogy of The Hobbitsince in it played Norione of the dwarves who accompanies Bilbo on his intrepid journey.
However, in the other productions he has given life to very fearsome villains. To begin with, in The Fellowship of the Ring he was one of the Nazgûl Riders who kept chasing Frodo and his companions. Then, in The Two Towers, he played two very different orcs, one of them being Snaga, the one who tries to eat Merry and Pippin, while later he becomes another orc, which is Sharku, the one who fights Aragorn when both fall off a cliff.
In The Return of the King he also made an appearance, although in this case it was to give life to another orc of the hundreds that parade in one of the many battles of this third part. As for The Rings of Powerplayed a more important role in Put yourself in Vrath’s shoesone of the fearsome orcs found in the prison camp where Arondir is being held in the third and fourth episodes of the first season.
The New Zealand actor is therefore the only one who can boast of having been part of the Middle Earth universe for over 20 years, which he has been with us on the small and big screen. The question is, will he repeat the same feat in the second season of the Prime Video television series? There are still some episodes to be released, so the possibility is there.
