Corinthians was exemplary in its idea of holding its own Transparency Day. Presentations of this type should be mandatory for all clubs, not because of the press, but because of the fans. Football today is a billion-dollar business just because of the passion of those who consume it. They deserve explanations. Kudos to the management.
The piles of slides and numbers presented convey a good idea, very optimistic plans and some make-up to try to shift part of the responsibility for the deficit to the previous administration. But the question is: will it become a reality?
Is it any use saying that this year’s market window had a surplus, but then showing that interest rates are corrosive? Is it any use talking about the surplus in the window, but hiding the increase in the payroll? Is it any use talking about the surplus, but not remembering that a good part of these sales never even reach the club because of blockages in court?
