In the second episode of ‘We Zijn er Bijna!’ we see how Martine van Os (67) travels with the group to the southwest of Spain, towards Portugal. In between, a stop is made in the Monfragüe national park, which is known for its large population of vultures. Viewers can’t help but make a lot of jokes about it on X.
“Why do boomers always have those debit card covers on their phones?”
In We’re Almost There! Martine accompanies seniors with a camper or caravan on a group trip. This year they are travelling through Spain and Portugal. A stopover at Monfragüe is a must. The vast rocky park is home to many special animal species, such as the Iberian lynx and birds of prey. This nature reserve is also home to the largest population of vultures in the world.
The travellers are very impressed by the dozens of black vultures that can be seen on the high rocks and want to take some pictures of them. But that turns out to be not so easy: the elderly people can’t get a good picture of the birds and find it difficult to work with the camera on their phones. But luckily the guide is kind enough to take the pictures for them. It doesn’t take long before a whole line of elderly people forms in front of him.
During his explanation, the necessary ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’ are heard and of course hundreds of comments are made about the beautiful weather. The viewers at home snigger at the scene. ‘The vultures are flying around in circles, they know there is something to be had’, someone jokes. ‘Why do those boomers always have those debit card covers on their phones?’, someone else wonders out loud. ‘Isn’t it lovely, that blue sky. We had that yesterday too. But oh well’, someone else jokes sarcastically.

Someone who was probably glued to the TV for this episode is Angela de Jong. She recently said she was a big fan of the program:
