After multiple rumors and leaks, Sony finally held a special presentation to reveal its latest hardware: the PlayStation 5 Pro, a revision of its current-generation console; however, the community’s reaction was far from what was expected.
During the 10-minute stream, Mark Cerny went into detail about the improvements and new features that the new model of his gaming platform will introduce. While the new ray tracing and the possibility of playing at a constant 60 fps with greater graphical fidelity are attractive and welcome additions, players were not particularly impressed.
Immediately after the official presentation, the company shared more details about the PlayStation 5 Pro via its official blog, including the price and the contents of the package. The information raised fans’ eyebrows.

Fans slam PlayStation 5 Pro price and features
If Sony was hoping to excite the community with this announcement, it clearly failed. It is clear that the presentation of the new console generated all kinds of reactions: from apathy to disappointment. While the graphical and performance improvements are striking, gamers consider the change to be less noticeable.
Additionally, a sector of the community regretted that there was no announcement of a new game that showed in great detail the capabilities of the PS5 Pro. Thus, they criticize the company for presenting previews of games that are already on the market and that are a recurring feature of this type of broadcast, such as The Last of Us: Part II and Final Fantasy VII.
However, there are those who say they would give the new model a try if the price was more affordable. Yes, a lot of the criticism is directed at the $699.99 USD and €799.99 EUR price tag. Clearly, many gamers aren’t willing to shell out that sum of money to explore the graphical improvements.
Gamers think the PS5 Pro is too expensive
Fans also lashed out at Sony for not including a disc drive or a stand to prop the console upright. Both items will be sold separately, so interested parties will have to pay much more than $699.99 USD if they want to play their titles in physical format or fit the platform on their shelf.
Gamers took advantage of this announcement to remember the unfortunate presentation in which the Japanese company revealed that the PlayStation 3 would cost $599 USD for its 60 GB model.
“Sony has gone nuts,” said one disappointed gamer on Reddit. “It’s $700 USD and the first game shown on the PS5 Pro is one that was released on PlayStation 4,” another fan joked on X. “Using a game from 4-5 years ago to show off the PS5 Pro is insane. How far have we come in gaming to use a title that came out when I was in high school as a reference?” said a third.
