After months and months of rumors, today, Tuesday, September 10, the existence of PS5 Pro has finally been made official, a console that will be ready to go on sale this Christmas to offer an improved version of the next-generation PlayStation experience. Wanting to offer both the best graphics that developers achieve along with the maximum fidelity that players desire has been the reason for making this renewed platform a reality.
While the PS5 Pro announcement didn’t come with any new games, Sony did release a first list of games that will potentially be getting improved on the console. However, the list is incomplete, as it’s estimated that “around 50 games” will be improved on the system when it launches next month in November. So far, the confirmed games are as follows:
Alan Wake 2Assassin’s Creed: ShadowsDemon’s SoulsDragon’s Dogma 2Final Fantasy 7 RebirthGran Turismo 7Hogwarts LegacyHorizon Forbidden WestMarvel’s Spider-Man 2Ratchet & Clank: Una dimensión aparteThe Crew MotorfestThe First DescendantThe Last of Us Parte II Remasterizado
Regarding these games, it is known that Horizon Forbidden West will run in 4K quality at 60 FPS, while The Last of Us Part 2 remaster will aim for “a super-smooth 60 frames per second.” However, the PS5 Pro’s ability to double the power of the standard console would also be noticeably appreciated in Ratchet & Clank: A Dimension Apart or Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which will also have an improved level of detail at 60 frames per second.
As reported by cnet, Horizon Forbidden West will also feature “improved lighting and visual effects, as well as hair and skin in cinematics,” while Gran Turismo 7 will feature improved ray tracing on cars.
What’s new on PS5 Pro
It’s worth noting that PS5 Pro will be compatible with over 8,500 PS4 and PS5 games, which will benefit from the PS5 Pro Game Boost feature, which will improve the graphics performance and frame rate of all games. The console, which will support current accessories such as PS VR2, Wi-Fi 7 and 8K gaming, maintains the design and height of the original model with a width equal to that of the current model.
Surprisingly, the PlayStation 5 Pro will cost €799.99, including a 2TB SSD with Astro’s Playroom pre-installed and a DualSense controller, being a console without a disc reader, which will be sold separately. Among its improvements, it stands out a GPU with 67% more processing units and 28% faster memory, allowing up to 45% faster rendering than the current PS5. In addition, it includes advanced ray tracing, with faster projection speeds, and an AI-powered scaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, which improves the clarity and detail of images thanks to machine learning.
