In recent days, we have received several news about the return of one of the most successful and beloved franchises in cinema: The Lord of the Rings. Some actors have already hinted at their return to the saga, while others continue to wait for the call. However, if there is someone who has been particularly direct this week, it has been Sir Ian McKellen.
During an interview on the American television program This Morning, the renowned British actor revealed that Warner Bros’ plan for the new installment of the saga, The Hunt for Gollumis to divide it into two parts, thus confirming that we will see more than one production of the franchise on the big screen in the coming years.
In addition to this revelation, McKellen also expressed his excitement about flying to New Zealand to begin filming, suggesting that his involvement could be officially confirmed in the coming months via Warner Bros’ social media, alongside, possibly, other old friends from the series.
While little is known about the plot of this new film, it’s clear that many fans have renewed their enthusiasm for Middle-earth, thanks to the work of Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis in reviving this beloved saga. The Hunt for Gollum will hit theaters around the world sometime in 2026.
