Injured – or not injured? Hugo Larsson’s early departure from the Swedish national team has raised questions. After the Swedish association announced his departure due to an injury, Eintracht initially wanted to hear nothing about it. On Tuesday, the 20-year-old was on the training ground and completed the session with the team as usual. There was no sign of an injury. Instead, Larsson’s unplanned return to Frankfurt seemed to have been due to a dispute with national coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Either way, the all-clear has now been officially given for the Swede. On Tuesday evening, SGE announced in a statement that Larsson was fit. Probably in order to take the wind out of the issue, it was said that Larsson had returned early “after he had suffered slight discomfort in his thigh”. After further examinations in Frankfurt, “no further abnormalities were found, so that the 20-year-old was able to complete team training on Tuesday without any discomfort”. In the coming days, Larsson will be examined “again as a precautionary measure”.
Omar Marmoush is also back in Frankfurt. The Eintracht striker suffered a knee injury while playing for the Egyptian national team. Bild reported an injury to the lateral ligament, which was not particularly serious. However, a possible appearance in the away match against VfL Wolfsburg next Saturday is still an open question.
Eintracht has now confirmed that the 25-year-old has injured his knee, but only speaks of “minor knee problems”. After further examinations, the attacker trained individually on Tuesday. However, his participation against the Wolves does not seem to be in any particular danger. In any case, Frankfurt says that the aim for him (as with Larsson) is to play on Saturday. It can therefore be assumed that both Marmoush and Larsson will be on the pitch against VfL.
