The coming days a northwesterly flow will ensure the supply of unstable and fresher air. Tomorrow a rain area will also pass from northwest to southeast. Behind that we will have to deal with the coldest day of the working week on Wednesday, that will take some getting used to!
This morning, there will be local fog or a fog bank in the east, which will quickly disappear. There will also be occasional sunshine. There will be some local rain in the south and a shower may occur in the west. The north and part of the east will have sunny spells at first, and the morning will be dry there.
At the end of the morning, the temperature has risen to around 20 degrees in the middle of the country. The day starts calmly with little wind, but in the course of the morning the wind becomes weak to moderate from the west. Along the west coast of Zeeland and South Holland, the wind becomes northwesterly and fairly strong towards the end of the morning.
Showers
This afternoon there will be occasional sunshine and scattered showers. At the end of the afternoon it will become drier in the west. Our rain radar is therefore a handy tool to see where the showers are at that moment! The maximum temperature will be 21 degrees. There will be a moderate, and at sea fairly strong or strong northwesterly wind, wind force 4 to 6.
Tonight the showers will quickly move eastwards to Germany and clearings will follow from the west. Tonight clearings and cloud fields will alternate and locally there may be another shower. It will eventually cool down to 12 degrees. The wind will turn from west to southwest and will be moderate, along the coast fairly strong or strong, wind force 3 to 6.
Below 20 degrees
Tomorrow the day will start with occasional sunshine and will remain mostly dry. At the end of the morning it will start to rain occasionally in the northwest. In the afternoon a rain area will move into the country from the northwest. In the east and southeast it may remain dry in many places until well into the afternoon.
The afternoon temperature will not rise above 20 degrees tomorrow for the first time since 21 August and will remain at 18 degrees. The southwesterly wind will increase to moderate or fairly strong, strong or hard along the coast, wind force 4 to 7. In the northern coastal area there is a chance of (heavy) wind gusts of up to 75 km/h.
Temperature rises from the valley
The days after that are changeable with occasional sun and showers with a chance of thunderstorms. The showers on Thursday and Friday decrease in number and activity with the sun more often on Friday.
On Wednesday, it will remain cool for the time of year at 14 or 15 degrees. We have to go back to July 12 for a similar temperature, when it was 15.4 degrees in De Bilt. From Thursday, the temperature will slowly climb out of the valley, with an afternoon temperature of 17 degrees on Friday.
