The mother of the 14-year-old suspect in the shooting at a school in the US state of Georgia, in which four people were killed, is said to have alerted the school to an emergency situation, according to various US media.
About half an hour before the shooting began, the suspect’s mother reportedly called the school about an “extreme emergency.”
The Washington Post also reportedly obtained text messages from the suspect’s mother, in which she allegedly asked the school board to “find and watch” her son.
Last week, two teachers and two students at Apalachee High School were killed and nine others were injured in a shooting. 14-year-old Colt Gray is suspected of the shooting.
He faces four charges, including first-degree manslaughter.
Father held responsible
Colt’s father, Colin Gray, has also been charged in connection with the shooting his son is suspected of. Parents in Georgia are held responsible for providing access to guns to minors suspected of shootings. Colin is said to have taught his son how to shoot.
Colin Gray is suspected of first-degree manslaughter and child abuse.
