The final months of 2024 are not going to give any respite to all video game fans. There is a long list of releases coming up that we should not lose track of, especially as regards the Nintendo Switch catalogue. I recently had the opportunity to play The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which I thought was a real marvel, but It’s not the only really interesting Nintendo title which is practically right around the corner.
Next month, all those who have the console from the big N will be invited to what is set to be the biggest party of the year, because in a few weeks Super Mario Party Jamboree will be released, the new installment of the mini-game franchise starring the characters from the Mushroom Kingdom that I have had the opportunity to try it for an hourapproximately.

For the occasion, it is clear that they have wanted to go all out, because it is crazy how many new things and ways there are to have a good time, whether alone, with friends in the same house or challenging people from all over the world.

It has generally maintained its essence, but there have been occasions when it has deviated from the path, especially when all the characters had to get into the same vehicle to travel together. However, this time it has decided to bet on A classic Mario Partywith its boards, mini-games, with its objects, strategies, quizzes, etc.
Of the seven boards that will be included, two of which are from other installments in the series, I only got to try one out for a few turns and I was delighted by how quickly the game can be turned around in a number of ways. As usual, the goal will remain to Collect 20 coins to get the stars which are those that grant victory to the one who has achieved the most when all the turns on the board have been completed.
Of course, it’s not easy at all. Because in the time I was playing with three other journalist colleagues, none of them managed to get a single star. From what I could see, there is a whistle that can change the place where it appears, there are Boos that can steal coins, dueling gloves to challenge another player by betting all the coins you have, and of course there is no shortage of corresponding traps with random events of all kinds and the craziest ones that can turn the situation upside down.
When all four players have rolled their dice, it’s time to participate in a minigame. It can be everyone against everyone, in pairs, or one against the other three depending on the spaces each player is on. This is by far the spice of the saga and what makes it so special and fun, hence why we wanted to take this idea even further by including More than a hundred different mini-games that have nothing to do with each other.
In some, everyone can get coins and in others, depending on the position they are in. In addition, some tests are based on skill, others on thinking, and there are also those that require mashing buttons or even making gestures with your hand thanks to the Joy-Con gyroscope, so the variety is truly wide and that is always appreciated so that everyone has a chance to win based on what each person is good at.
The party will not stop at any time
Board mode may be the main mode and the one that fans are most familiar with, but in Super Mario Party Jamboree There will be many other ways to spend unforgettable afternoons. I was left wanting to try all the game modes, which I assure you are not particularly few, although at least I was able to give some of them a chance. However, first of all, I must say that each and every one of the existing modes can be played onlineso there will never be an excuse to challenge other players.
For example, there is one that will encourage anyone to log in daily and it is the Minigames Port. There will be a selection of three mini-games that share the same theme, such as some based on food and others in which you have to rack your brains and use reverse psychology to beat your rivals. In this way, each victory gives you a star and the winner is the one who has accumulated the most after the three tests, so it is a good way to play short and to the point games in a different way.
On the other hand, there is the Bowserathlonin which more than 20 players compete at the same time in minigames that will test their skills. And here it is important to do really well, because the result will be reflected in a leaderboard that will determine the number of meters that each character will advance when moving around a circuit. It is a shame that I did not try it in depth to see how Bowser will do his thing, but this mode seems to be one of the most addictive without a doubt due to the speed at which it happens.
Regarding the other one I tried, it was the Anti-Bowser Brigade. Yes, it seems that in this installment Bowser will have a big role, because in this mode up to eight players can get together to defeat a giant Bowser and they have to do it in the shortest time possible. To do this, you have to load a cannon and shoot him with the most devastating bullets that are hidden in containers that can be broken with a punch or with objects obtained in mini-games.
In short, the hour I was playing Super Mario Party Jamboree It has been more than enough to make it very clear that this game cannot be missing from my Nintendo Switch library.
