Steam is the most popular PC platform because it hosts all kinds of video games. With this in mind, it is very common for many low-profile projects to go unnoticed by the vast majority. Luckily, an interesting action game will have a second chance to shine because it has become free-to-play.
Every week, Valve launches attractive discounts and other promotions that allow players to expand their collection at a really low price. In the best cases, developers also surprise the community and give away their video games for one reason or another: from thanking fans for their support to promoting a new project.
There’s good news for roguelike fans looking for something new to play, as an indie studio has given away their game on Steam. The best part is that it’s a promotion with no deadline.

Infected Shelter is available for free on Steam
We’re talking about Infected Shelter, a striking 2D beat’em up that stands out for its aesthetics and roguelike elements. It debuted in November 2019 from the independent studio Dark Blue Games in early access format. However, it went unnoticed and was unable to stand out on the PC platform.
The indie game recently went free-to-play and is currently available for free on Steam. The change seems to be permanent, so players will be able to add it to their PC library at any time and keep it forever.
PC players can get Infected Shelter for free on Steam
Dark Blue Games did not reveal the reason behind this decision, so it is unknown why Infected Shelter abandoned the paid format and became a free experience. In any case, in the last few hours it experienced a very slight increase in popularity on Valve’s platform.
Specifically, the roguelike went from having an average of between 3 and 6 concurrent users to reaching an all-time high of 34 simultaneous players. Although it is a very small increase, it represents the best figure since 2019 and is an indicator that the curious gave it a chance.
