A large gathering of fans is supporting recently embattled BTS member Suga, who came under fire after he was caught driving under the influence. Suga was arrested in early August and has since apologized multiple times.
A number of fans nevertheless felt that Suga should leave the K-pop group after his offense. In a joint statement, fans say that the majority of the ARMY, as BTS fans call themselves, no longer agrees. 127 fan groups from 58 countries say in the statement that they support “all seven members.”
Popular K-pop band BTS is currently not active as a group. In 2022, the group went on hiatus until all members completed their military service. Suga is currently serving as a social worker in the South Korean military as part of his military service.
