The National Animal Protection Agency collaborates with firefighters to strengthen rescue activities in emergency situations
A very important day for those who work to protect the environment and save animal lives: on July 24, 2024, the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Fire Brigade, Public Rescue and Civil Defense Corps and the ENPA (ODV).
By signing this protocol, the Department and the National Animal Protection Agency intend to pool their respective specificities and skills for strengthen rescue activities preparatory to the protection of the environment and animals involved in emergency situations. A 360° protocol, in fact, that will allow, in compliance with the relative functions, not only technical-operational collaboration in rescue interventions but also in those training and educational areas capable of refining the procedures and knowledge of the animal and environmental world by VF operators.
The areas of prevalent collaboration are identified in the following fields:
a) collaboration in study and research activities in the environmental sector, with specific reference to aspects connected with the protection of animals and the protection and valorization of nature;
b) development of shared initiatives for the dissemination of the culture of defense of landscape, environmental and forestry heritage, also through the organization of dissemination and in-depth events;
c) reporting of situations that require intervention and investigation in order to involve the institutionally competent Authorities.
Furthermore, it will be possible to proceed to joint campaigns to raise awareness among institutional actors and civil society, contributing to the diffusion of an environmental culture in order to protect a heritage that is a fundamental part of the national identity.
