The fourth generation of Pokémon, spanning the Platinum Edition and the remakes Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver, is known for its unique challenges and hidden rewards. While these games offer many hours of entertainment after completing the main story, one of the most surprising secrets requires exceptionally high dedication.
YouTuber Etchy, a fan of this generation, has revealed that unlocking certain rare dialogues in Battlefront can take around 2000 hours of gameplay.
The Battle Frontier, an area available only after the Pokémon League in the aforementioned editions, offers five facilities where players can accept challenges with their Pokémon. Each facility has a Battle Champion that appears only after winning a specific number of battles.
The Battle Room, in particular, is notable for the fact that you only fight one Pokémon at a time. Players can choose which type they want to battle and face off in a series of battles that become progressively more difficult.
Throughout these battles, the games record records and accumulate fans, including special characters such as Lucius, Lucia, and even the protagonist’s mother, who surprise with unique dialogues. However, the final “reward” for the most persevering players comes after a series of 10,000 battles won, at which point Professor Oak becomes a fan and expresses his pride.
Winning all 10,000 battles in a row isn’t required though, as instead the best series of battles are added up, allowing players to set records with different Pokémon. Still, this monumental goal reflects the level of dedication required to uncover all the secrets that the fourth generation of Pokémon has to offer. Players didn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate the trainer on his successes.
After 15,000 hours of gameplay, a player manages to advance in one of the most difficult challenges in Pokémon and obtains his first gym badge
Professor Oak’s Challenge is one of the most demanding challenges in the Pokémon universe, requiring players to complete all available Pokédex entries before being able to face the first gym. However, the difficulty is increased even further with the Living Shiny Dex variant, a variation of the challenge that requires not only capturing all Shiny versions of each Pokémon, but also obtaining a copy of each evolutionary stage.
YouTuber 40 Cakes is taking on this variant in Pokemon Emerald, and after nearly 15,000 hours of gameplay, he’s reached one of the most challenging stages: getting the first gym badge.
