They can probably be described as one of the best attacking duos in the world of football. Jamal Musiala from FC Bayern Munich and Florian Wirtz from Bayer 04 Leverkusen are currently inspiring everyone and put on a spectacle against the Hungarians that made many people lick their lips. The two youngsters were unstoppable by the Hungarian defenders throughout the entire game and really turned it on in the second half in particular. This not only thrilled German football fans, but also the experts and those involved in the German national team.
Julian Nagelsmann was also full of praise for his two prodigies. “If they stay like this, they will both be nominated for the Ballon d’Or at some point. And then there is the potential for both of them to win it,” the national coach believes the magical attacking duo has a great future ahead of them. “If both of them are up for it and really give it their all, it is difficult for the opponent, that is exceptionally good,” said Nagelsmann.
The team mates also benefit from the DFB team’s whirlwind of shooting stars. Striker Niclas Füllkrug describes himself as a “beneficiary” and thinks: “The two of them are really something special.” The West Ham United attacker enjoys watching the two dribbling artists. “It was also a pleasure to watch from the bench when Flo and Jamal really got going again in the second half. We are really happy to have the two boys in our team at this level at the moment. It’s a gift. All spectators will enjoy it for years to come,” said the ex-Dortmund player about his up-and-coming teammates.
But Füllkrug was not alone in his praise. Pascal Groß also raved about `Wusiala` and described the duo as “world class” and sees the offensive players as a “blessing for German football”.
Former national player and 2014 world champion Christoph Kramer was also impressed by the DFB duo in his role as a TV expert. “Good players always come together. You notice that when Musiala and Wirtz have the ball, they always look for each other. The two of them are outstanding. What they played today is extraordinary.”
Jamal Musiala himself blossoms even more when playing with Wirtz and expresses his joy in playing with his congenial partner in the DFB team. “It’s always fun to play with Flo, we can play around all evening after one or two goals,” said the Munich player after the final whistle. It’s hard to imagine what would happen in the Bundesliga if the two were playing for the same club. FC Bayern’s interest in Flo Wirtz has been circulating in the transfer market rumours for some time.
