When Mats Hummels’ contract with Borussia Dortmund was not renewed after last season, it was clear that a defining era was coming to an end and Hummels would join the ranks of BVB legends. The worthy central defender, who played 508 competitive games for Borussia and gave his all, was also bid farewell as part of the farewell game of the two Polish club icons Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukasz Pisczcek and was celebrated with a standing ovation by the Dortmund fans.
