Ronald Koeman complimented the players of the Dutch national team after the big win over Bosnia and Herzegovina (5-2) in the Nations League. “I thought it was very fresh. I am very happy with that”, said the national coach.
Koeman thought it was one of the better games for the Dutch team ‘on the ball’ since he started his second term as national coach at the beginning of 2023. “But I also thought our game against Poland and Romania at the European Championship was good in longer periods. I was largely satisfied with the pressing today. We were able to find people between the lines very often.”
The Dutch team did not look good with the two goals conceded. “Xavi Simons chose to run away, which freed up a midfielder and then we were also not good in the centre. We also gave away the second goal ourselves and after that it almost became 3-3. So there are enough things we need to improve on, but there have been many more good things.”
Koeman was complimented on the freshness and eagerness of his players. “I didn’t do anything special,” he said with a laugh. “It also has to do with the composition of the group. We are entering a new period, on the way to a final tournament. Although I have never had to complain about how the players entered the Dutch national team.”
