It is known that the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen has been full of brutal and bloody deaths that have taken place in the different arcs of the series, since this is an element that Gege Akutami usually uses very frequently to develop his dark premise, proving that he does not hesitate to do without his characters no matter how popular or relevant they are.
Gege Akutami has a somewhat disturbing philosophy for killing off his characters, as it confirms that the mangaka likes to play with the emotions of his fans, as he has made it clear that if the death of a character does not have an impact on the followers, it is not worth doing without them. In fact, both the Shibuya arc and Shinjuku Showdown have been filled with countless deaths, most at the hands of Sukuna.

However, the most recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen has included a new death that has caused many concerns within the fandom, who have wondered if this character has received a “dignified death” after his despicable actions.
This post contains Spoilers for Chapter #268 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
Jujutsu Kaisen has given a fitting death to Ryomen Sukuna
Since the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, the work has focused on delving into the concept of death through Yuji Itadori, who has always defended his ideal that everyone should have a “proper” or dignified death regardless of their actions or all the damage they have caused, a detail that has been emphasized in the most recent arc, in which Sukuna has killed several characters during this final battle.
Likewise, after the merciless carnage carried out by Sukuna during the final battle, the last chapters had a 180 degree turn by showing the unexpected return of Nobara, who quickly joined Itadori to defeat this fearsome entity once and for all.
In fact, Sukuna’s defeat is so assured that during the most recent chapter, the King of Curses can be seen speaking to Fushiguro inside, desperate because he knows his death is near. However, in the midst of this moment, Yuji offers Ryomen the option of sharing his body again and forging a new path, but Ryomen refuses, making it clear that it is a curse, deciding to die on his own terms, having a pathetic end.
This last point is important, because we have to remember that there are many works that, at the end of their plot, choose to humiliate, in a certain way, their villain. This may be with the intention of teaching a good lesson to the readers, or for any other reason. However, Sukuna has remained firm at all times in his position as the King of Curses and has not succumbed to these nice words from Itadori.
During this moment, you can see that Sukuna is slowly fading away as he chooses to die on his own terms, so you could say that the series has given him a death befitting this fearsome character who was always proud of his nature and his actions. Evidently, this detail caused some doubts among fans, who wondered if he received a “dignified death” despite all the evil he caused throughout the series.
The topic of a dignified death is quite subjective and can depend on many aspects. However, we consider it to have been an honorable ending, since he never gave up on his ideals nor did he “evangelize” himself at any time, which fits with the message of the work and also makes the conclusion of this villain memorable.

However, it might be too early to assume that Ryomen Sukuna has died, since knowing Gege Akutami this could be a ploy to divert attention into including a shocking event towards the end of the manga, since the artist himself let it be known that this work would not have a happy ending.
