Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly spoke with James Gunn to find out what we can expect from his DC Universeand this offered some interesting details.
“What I’ve always liked about DC Comics is that they had their mainstream comics that were always coming out, but they also had these comics with a different tone like Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns and All-Star Superman. In that sense, it was different from Marvel. That’s something I really want to keep at the studio: that each project brings a different vision from the artists who create it.”
“I’m used to dealing with weird characters, oddballs, and weirdos. That’s Guardians, and Creature Commandos is like Guardians without the sentimentality. Guardians are all really good characters at heart, but that’s not necessarily the case with creatures.”
Gunn also took the opportunity to point out that the film Superman It’s the real beginning of everything, and why this project is so important.
“Superman is the real beginning of everything, it’s a massive epic. It’s a way for people to try a little bit and see what it tastes like. There are a lot of fun references to other DC stuff, a lot of hints at things to come. So I think it’s an extraordinarily fun way to start.”
Creature Commandos will arrive at Max on December 5, 2024.
