A Dutch man has been arrested in Suriname on suspicion of murdering his wife, reports the Surinamese news site Waterkant. The Rotterdam couple were said to have been on holiday in the South American country.
The man had buried the woman’s body. He had previously reported his wife missing to the police.
According to the news site, a Surinamese woman has also been arrested, she is said to be his mistress and may have been involved in the woman’s death.
Autopsy
The man had initially made up an excuse for his wife’s family in the Netherlands, but they began to worry about the fate of the 46-year-old woman. They then went to the Surinamese police. The woman’s body was found last Wednesday.
The woman’s body is still being examined to determine the exact cause of death.
