Priscilla Wildeman, known from the TV program ‘Een Huis Vol’, is currently expecting her eighth child. Her pregnancy is not going as hoped: on Wednesday she even had to go under the knife. According to Priscilla it was a close call.
“Just a few days later and it would have been the end of the story”
Priscilla had to undergo surgery because of a problem with her uterus. A so-called cerclage had to be placed: a band around the cervix. The purpose of this is to close the cervix during pregnancy and thus prevent premature birth.
According to Priscilla, her gynecologist was shocked. Her cervix was only 1.6 centimeters, instead of the normal 3 centimeters. ‘Just a few days later and it would have been the end of the story,’ Priscilla wrote on Instagram.
The operation went well. Priscilla didn’t notice much of it because of the anesthesia, but she didn’t wake up feeling good. ‘I felt unwell, had some trouble breathing, terrible cramps, had a lot of blood loss in the operating room’, she says.
Priscilla says she is having a very hard time physically and emotionally. ‘I could have kicked myself yesterday. People often think that having many children just comes naturally, but not to me. I am not only risking a new life, but also my own life.’
Still, she looks positively to the future. ‘Hopefully it will stay this way and things will continue well. (..) The love for a little person is greater than the misery.’
