There are only a few weeks left until we can finally enjoy the second season of Daryl DixonThe Walking Dead spin-off series has been gaining followers over time, and many viewers are interested in seeing the future of its protagonist, as well as knowing if we will finally see a romance between him and his traveling companion, Carol.
The showrunner has spoken about this topic, David Zabelduring an interview with SFX magazine via GamesRadar, where he explained that, while it is normal for fans and the public to expect a much more intimate relationship between both characters in the future, the intention is totally different.
“The obvious thing to do, and the easiest thing to do, would be to say, ‘Okay, they’re falling in love now and they’re a couple. ‘ But I always felt like that would be a mistake because it would feel like you’re going into the TV playbook,” she explained. “For me, there was never any question that[their connection]was something other than what it is, and what it seems to want to be, and why it works so well.”
Zabel has explained that both he and Norman Reedus They have always wanted to capture what a mature relationship between a man and a woman is like during a zombie apocalypse, focusing more on a family or fraternal environment and moving away from the romantic tone that some have theorized.
Obviously, there is no denying that this possibility exists, but many see this relationship as something rather maternal, since both love and appreciate each other very much, but without becoming anything more. The second season of Daryl Dixon is scheduled to premiere on October 4, 2024 on AMC+.
