The first move was made by Adrian Huertas, somewhat shuffling the cards on the table. The Spanish rider was in fact one of the hot names of this session of the Superbike market and in the end he took an unexpected direction, choosing the jump to Moto2.
It’s not official yet, but the Aruba representative is in fact close to signing with Italtrans, replacing Dennis Foggia on the Kalex in 2025.
With this first piece in place, we now have to resolve the situation surrounding Andrea Iannone, the hot name in this Superbike market.
At the end of July, the option that the Vasto rider had with Go Eleven expired, but the parties wanted to give themselves time before choosing. In the meantime, Yamaha entered the picture, interested in the number 29 to place him in the GRT team led by Filippo Conti alongside Remy Gardner. Going to Yamaha, Andrea would have a direct contract with Yamaha Motor Europe and would also find himself with a full factory package just like Rea and Locatelli.
In this regard, we would like to underline that next year Yamaha will officially support only the GRT team, reducing its commitment to other structures.
The fact is that Iannone now finds himself at a crossroads and will have to communicate his choice at Magny-Cours. The time available to the Abruzzese is in fact over and now it is time to make known his intentions for 2025.
On one side there is Go Eleven, who waited for their rider throughout the month of August, confident of continuing together the path started last October. On the other side there is Yamaha, ready to put on the table a project structured over two years with a contract totally supported by the House from an economic point of view.
The future is therefore in Andrea’s hands with Yamaha appearing to have gotten ever closer to The Maniac in recent weeks.
