The Amsterdammers had been after the striker’s signature for a long time and Weghorst is happy that he can finally join Ajax. “I already wore an Ajax shirt as a little boy. My grandfather was a real fan”, says Weghorst, who explains his choice: “We had to wait until the deal was done. It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to return to the Netherlands. If Ajax comes, that will be a huge honor. I immediately had a great feeling about it and that made it easy to wait.”
